Like most of the lovely bars in Strawberry Hill Breit's offers a selection of beer at ridiculous prices. The beer menu is a little more limited here than in other spots, but you can get 20 ounces for Guinness for a ridiculous price. On top of that ... jukebox with CDs on the wall ... it's free and it has some interesting mixes put together by people having class reunions or parties that I guess happened at Breit's or involved Breit's. This place is in a nice, old brick building. It has some definite character and a great patio. Seating inside is somewhat limited, but if it's nice outside it won't matter. In terms of the sandwiches, they are a good deal! I recommend getting your sandwich grilled or steamed. I've come here quite a few times. I still remember the first time was a St. Patrick's Day a few years back. That was when I started developing a crush on Strawberry Hill and my time at Breit's that day was the best!

Great Lunch spot in KCK, We had to go over lunch to Krizman's House of Sausage like many of us do to get sausages to eat at home and found another great reason to go to KCK. We had a small sample of the food, with the Rubin and Polish w/ Sauerkraut. The Rubin was grill on a very nice marbled rye, I was expecting the Roma Bakery Marbled Rye, but this was better. The Polish was the star of the show with sauerkraut and a spicy mustard. The sausage was split length wise and put on a fantastic hoagie style roll, the bread was soft and amazing. P.S. get the coleslaw. I sent my friend here to eat and he sent this email back: Hey Matt, thanks for the tip about Briet's. The rReuben was everything you said and more (all good), the cole slaw was the perfect complement, the Bud Lite was all they had on tap I could drink, and it's being Friday night, the place was jam packed with lawyers, paralegals or some other kind of office worker types in tight skirts and huge smiles all mixed in with a huge three-generation gathering of blue-collars. Loud and fun, but nobody's skin was darker than mine -- what ? do all the latinos and blacks have their own special no-whites-allowed reuben joints in KCK ?). The waitress said that their polish sausage on the hogie bun is a Wednesday special. Guess I'll have to wait 'til Nov 16 to try that one. I owe it all to you. John

Cool old building in a recovering urban neighborhood. The owners are the only employees as far as I can tell, with the husband working the bar and his wife making sandwiches. Couldn't ask for a friendlier couple. I've heard this is a pretty cool place to get a beer after work, but I'm reviewing it as a lunch spot. As a lunch spot, it's pretty alright. A-OK as they say. The problem is that the place doesn't really have a kitchen, let alone a prep area, and so all the breads and meats are made elsewhere, purchased, and merely assembled at Breit's. Fortunately, while it isn't anything you couldn't easily do yourself at home, they do buy quality products and put them together well. If you're in the area, you could do a lot worse than Breit's Reuben for a quick lunch. Top it off with a nice chat with the owners.

I have never had a bad time at Breit's. The bar staff is incredibly friendly and the drinks are cheap. I love this place and wish we lived closer!

nice neighborhood tap room in strawberry hill. family-run business that centers around wyco/kck. very quiant and well-executed newer bar in a historic building. nice crowd mixed of young and older on the weekends so don't worry about everyone turning around when you walk in. back patio is the star of the show and showcases the surrounding density and diversity of the neighborhood around it. nice jukebox selection also.

Come to strawberry hill and have the best rueben ever...and that is coming from someone who protests Reuben's normally. Oh and your whole mean is $4...that includes a drink and side. You can't beat that!!! All other sandwiches are yummy and worth trying though.

You know, this could be the most awesome bar in KCK, but I'll never know because I'll never be back. Both times I have been in to try to grab a drink here, there's been a private party on, the place has been packed...and neither time was there anything like a sign on the door to indicate that outsiders might not be welcome. Both times the bar looked open, but apparently they didn't want any additional business. In fact, this weekend, we were part of a fairly large pub crawl that was due to stop at Breit's, and when we arrived, there was some party going on, and all we were met with was attitude. It's like they had NO IDEA the pub crawl would actually stop in...never mind the fact that they were listed on the t-shirt that all crawlers received, and the fact that we actually asked ahead of time if Breit's was actually participating and expecting us, due to the less than stellar track record we've experienced whenever we have tried to go there. The people in the bar were quite rude, and full of snarky comments about the pub crawl. One of them (not a staff member, that I know of), snottily tried to tell my husband that he wasn't allowed to drink his water outside. Um...yeah. It was water in a plastic cup and he was outside because there was no room inside thanks to the massive party that girl was with. On my previous visit, the people at that private party were also rude, and one of them made a nasty comment about my friend, who had an AIR CAST on and accidentally slightly bumped her as we tried to get out of the bar as quickly as possible. Another friend of mine also walked in on yet another private party one night - again, no sign on the door, or anything like that - he and his wife were just met with unfriendly stares and made to feel very uncomfortable. So they left right away. I mean, I've been to places that are full of regulars, and had that uncomfortable moment where everyone just sort of looks at everyone else, but usually people tend to chill out and either ignore you after that awkward moment, or become friendly and conversational. I've never felt as uncomfortable and unwelcome as I have both times at Breit's. I mean, hey, if you want to have a lot of private parties, that's certainly your right as a business, and I respect that. But with that being said, it would be nice to let other potential patrons know what's going on so that they don't end up feeling like I do, and subsequently write off your business. Honestly, I don't know what the deal is with this place - if it just attracts jerky groups of people, or wants to be a private club, or what. Maybe my friends and I have just had a ridiculous run of bad luck. Regardless, what I do know is that there are plenty of other places to drink in the area where they actually seem pleased to see customers, and those other places are where you'll find me.

Um, no. I have attempted to go here twice after my initial good visit last October. I say attempted because each time I have tried to go here in the past 6 months there is a private party going on. That's fine. If non-private party people aren't welcomed, put a sign on the door stating you're closed due to a private party. Situation solved. I was on the Strawberry Hill pub crawl this past Saturday. Knowing the issues I have had, as well as my friends on other occasions, I double checked with the organizers that Breit's was aware we were going to be there. I was assured all would be okay. This definitely wasn't the case. As I walked up, one of the people on the crawl came out and stated people were being incredibly rude to the crawlers. Sure enough, stink eyes all around due to a 5 year class reunion we were obviously "crashing". It wasn't just the stink eyes but rude comments from people. Come on, really? The majority of us left and went to the last stop. Everyone had a great time there. As stated, this wasn't the first time I have been on the receiving end of this ridiculously rude treatment but it is definitely the last time. I'm finished trying to figure out when it's okay for me to be there. It is obvious unless you are with the "in crowd" you aren't welcome. There are plenty of other Strawberry Hill bars which are more welcoming. I will gladly go to those bars.

Best Reuben I've had since I left Omaha -- home of the Reuben. Thanks it was great!

An icon on Strawberry Hill and a hangout for the local political and legal establishment. The place is friendly and you will ALWAYS have the owner Bobby around to talk to. Meet him once and you're a regular! The drinks are cheap and the patio is really spacious and attractive.

I'm sure this place has a better vibe in the evenings but at noon on a Wednesday it was like a morgue. Two suits and an old man watching TV with no conversation. The man and woman behind the bar were very standoffish, although I did receive a "thanks" as I was leaving. The Reuben was very good and the price was great - $7.90 for a great sandwich and slaw with a large mug of Boulevard wheat. Since I don't live in that area I have no reason to make an effort to go back and spend $ where I was not welcomed.

Breit's has the best ruben sandwich in town. Seriously. It's a definite must-try. The crowd and employees are friendly and there seem to be a good deal of regulars.

Great neighborhood bar with cheap drink prices. I was there on a Saturday night and saw people in t-shirts and shorts and people who were dressed like they came from a wedding. Pretty much come as you are kinda bar and not feel out of place. Nice variety of younger and older crowd too. Everyone was really friendly. The music they were playing was great - from Johnny Cash to Mumford and Sons. There's a great patio out back, but it was too chilly when we were there. Can't wait to go back and check that out.

We had to attend a graduation party by Wyandotte on Friday evening, so we decided to do a mini-crawl in Strawberry Hill. Gosh, it had been fifteen years since I had been anywhere there, so I Yelped and asked a friend for recommendations. Breit's was our first stop. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the owner. Yep! He hangs out, which I think is cool. On the front wall was a plastering of posters and pictures of Bishop Ward baseball teams from throughout the years. We spent several minutes finding people we know (coaches) and apparently kids of people we know, and just enjoying ourselves revisiting our Dotte roots. Looking across to the back bar shelf, we see a bottle of Slivo (sp?). Only in Strawberry Hill! This reminded us of our Croation friends from high school whose dad made his own. Everyone here knows everyone. We didn't visit the back patio, but several people were out there. The bartender was fantastic, and she chatted extensively with us. She and the owner were very gracious and thanked us for coming. I love the venue itself. Old, hardwoods, high ceilings, true to original design. I really dig places like this. My only complaint is lack of tap selections. Gross domestics, a Boulevard that was tapped out (would've been happy if I could've had some), and Guinness. Now then, the Guinness redeemed them, as it was damn tasty and perfectly poured. Bottle selection was just OK. I had a Smithwick's and BF had Blvd Irish. We will definitely be back. Breit's made me remember why I am proud to be from KCK.

Nice old school tavern...cool old brick corner building in Strawberry Hill. We stopped in for grilled sandwiches for lunch after exploring the nitty gritty of the neighborhood a little bit. Weathered hardwood floor, short bar with a couple of TVs, sandwich prep counter, high ceiling, local sports clippings on the wall. Not fancy, but comfy. Reuben was wonderful...good ratio of kraut to corned beef, toasted/crisped perfectly. Enough Thousand Island to give it a tang, but not so much as to be sloppy. Tasty cup of potato salad, could stand to be a bit more generous, though. Served with a beer that is very generous in size, though, so I'll take it! The lunch crew looked to be mostly people from the neighborhood and attorney types on lunch break. Tasty, inexpensive quality lunch, great atmosphere.

A townie bar at it's finest. I have only been here to drink and if you like cold beer, they've definitely got it. I hear rumblings that their sandwiches are fantastic but I have yet to have one. I'm sure this place gets overshadowed by the 403 Club across the street but they definitely hold their own.

Visiting from the DC Metro area and heading back to the hotel after a long day of eating some amazing BBQ, the fiancé and I wanted to relax and a have a beer close to the hotel. Super pumped we stopped off here. We are big fans of local, family style bars and this is it. Drinks are cheap, people are friendly and juke box is free. We ended up chatting it up with the owner (Bob) and his wife and extended family. They introduced us to other locals who were also nice which made the evening better. Only regret about our trip is that we did not come here first.
